How do I add PAYG instalments to my BAS in Kontuly?

Applies to Kontuly 0.2 beta Updated

In Kontuly, open Settings, find BAS: PAYG and choose how you pay PAYG income tax instalments: an amount from your ATO notice (option 1, T7) or a rate (option 2, T2). The GST Report then adds your instalment at 5A and the totals at 8A, 8B and 9.

  1. Open Settings and find BAS: PAYG.
  2. Choose under PAYG income tax instalments:
    • An amount (option 1: T7 on my ATO notice), then type the Amount each period.
    • A rate (option 2: T2 on my ATO notice), then type the Rate (%).
  3. Click Save PAYG settings.

How is the instalment worked out?

  • Option 1 (amount): T7 is your notice amount. It's a quarter's instalment, so T7 shows only on a BAS that ends a quarter: the whole quarter, or, if your BAS frequency is monthly, the last month of the quarter (September, December, March or June).
  • Option 2 (rate): T1 is your instalment income: sales and other income excluding GST for the period, on your GST basis (G1 less 1A). T2 is your rate, and T11 is T1 × T2.

The instalment goes to 5A, PAYG income tax instalment.

What are 8A, 8B and 9?

  • 8A: what you owe the ATO (1A + 4 + 5A).
  • 8B: what the ATO owes you (1B).
  • 9: the payment to the ATO, or the refund from it.

I varied my instalment

If you vary your instalment, or the notice gives a different amount, enter what you'll actually pay on the BAS form. Kontuly prepares the figures only; you or your agent lodge. Whether to vary is a question for your accountant or registered tax agent.

Recording the payment

When you pay, code the instalment share of the ATO payment to your income tax account. See How do I record paying the ATO for my BAS?
