When is my BAS due, and what does Kontuly's GST card show?

Applies to Kontuly 0.2 beta Updated

If your business is registered for GST, Kontuly's Dashboard shows a GST card, such as GST payable this period or GST refund this period, with the amount, the period's dates and the BAS due date. While last period's BAS is still due, it shows last period instead, so you can see what to lodge and pay.

Click the card to open the GST Report for that period.

Where do the periods come from?

From BAS frequency in Settings under GST & returns: Monthly, Quarterly or Annual, lined up with your financial year. The amount uses your accounting basis and is GST on sales less GST on purchases (1A less 1B).

Which due dates does Kontuly use?

The standard dates for businesses that lodge themselves:

BAS frequency Due
Monthly The 21st of the following month
Quarterly The 28th of the month after the quarter ends; the October–December quarter is due 28 February
Annual 31 October after a June financial year ends (the last day of the fourth month after the year for other year ends)

If a BAS agent or tax agent lodges for you, your due dates may be later. For example, the December monthly BAS is due 21 February for many agent clients. Ask your agent for your dates.

The card's figure differs from the GST Report

Check the report's period. The card may be showing last period while it's still due, and the report opens on the period you choose. See Why doesn't my GST Report match what I expected?

I don't see a GST card

The card only shows when Registered for GST is ticked in Settings. See What happens if I'm not registered for GST?
