How do I prepare a TPAR (taxable payments report) in Kontuly?
Tick Contractor for the Taxable payments annual report (TPAR) on each contractor's contact in Kontuly, then open the Taxable Payments Annual Report under Tax in All reports. It lists each contractor paid in the financial year with their ABN, address, gross paid including GST and the GST in it; you or your agent lodge the figures with the ATO by 28 August.
Businesses in some industries (building and construction, cleaning, couriers, IT, security and others) must report payments to contractors each year. Whether you need to, and which contractors to include, is your call: check with your accountant or registered BAS agent.
- Flag each contractor. Open the supplier in Contacts and tick Contractor for the Taxable payments annual report (TPAR). Make sure the contact has an ABN.
- Enter a bill for each contractor payment, and pay it (one at a time, several on one bank line, or in an ABA batch).
- Open the report. All reports, under Tax: Taxable Payments Annual Report. It opens on the current financial year; choose Last financial year for the one you're lodging.
- Check the figures and the ABN check at the bottom.
- Export PDF or CSV, and lodge through Online services for business or your agent.
What's counted?
- Payments by the date they were paid, less refunds from the contractor.
- Columns: Contractor, ABN, Address, Gross paid (incl. GST), GST and Tax withheld (always zero; Kontuly doesn't record withholding from contractors).
What isn't counted?
- Bank lines coded straight to an expense account. They have no contact, so Kontuly can't tell who was paid. Enter a bill for each contractor payment and match the bank line to it.
- Credit applied to a bill. That isn't a payment.
"Every contractor paid has an ABN" shows a warning
A contractor you paid has no ABN on their contact. Add it before you lodge.
Kontuly doesn't send anything to the ATO.
