How do I try Kontuly with a sample business?

Applies to Kontuly 0.2 beta Updated

On Kontuly's start screen, click Explore a sample business first. It creates Sample — Harbour & Co Design, a small design studio with three months of made-up activity, as a separate business you can try anything in without touching your own books.

  1. Open the start screen. It appears the first time you open Kontuly, after the trial or licence step, before you've set up a business.
  2. Click Explore a sample business first. The sample business opens on its Dashboard, with a blue banner reminding you it's a sample.
  3. Try anything. Approve, void, import, reconcile. It has invoices paid, part-paid and overdue, bills, a credit note, a quote, items, a recurring invoice and bank lines waiting to be coded.
  4. Set up your own books when you're ready, with New business in the business switcher at the top of the sidebar. See How do I set up my first business?

When you're finished with the sample, delete it. While it exists it counts as one of your businesses under your licence.

What is the test pack?

Load the test pack (on the start screen, or under the wizard in New business) is for reviewers, accountants and anyone comparing Kontuly with another package. It creates Test Pack — Green Leaf Catering: a full BAS quarter, 1 July to 30 September 2026, on the cash basis, with GST-free and input-taxed sales, part payments, credit notes, a refund, PAYG wages and an instalment, a USD invoice and a contractor for TPAR. Its dates are fixed, so every copy produces the same figures. Email reminders are off for it, because its customers are made up.

Will the sample send emails to anyone?

No real customer. The sample's customers have made-up email addresses that can't receive mail. To see what a customer would get, preview the invoice or email it to yourself.
