What is Kontuly?

Applies to Kontuly 0.2 beta Updated

Kontuly is desktop accounting software for Australian small businesses, sole traders and bookkeepers. It runs on Mac, Windows and Linux, keeps each business's books in a file on your own computer, and works offline.

It handles the everyday bookkeeping jobs: bringing in bank statements and coding each transaction, sending quotes and invoices, recording bills, tracking who owes you and who you owe, reconciling your bank account, and working out your GST and the figures for your BAS. Reports such as the Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet are worked out on the spot from everything you've recorded.

What does "double entry" mean here?

Every amount is recorded as a balanced pair of entries: money out of one account always equals money into others. You rarely see this. When you code a bank transaction or approve an invoice, Kontuly writes the entries for you, so your accountant gets books they can rely on.

What else does it do?

Besides invoices, bills and banking, Kontuly has quotes and contracts, recurring invoices and bills, purchase orders, tracked stock, time tracking, foreign-currency invoices and bills, budgets, fixed assets, customer statements and overdue-invoice reminders by email. The full list is at kontuly.com/features.

Who makes it?

Kontuly is made by Phenom Central, an Australian company. This release is for Australian businesses only (GST, the BAS, the ABN and Australian dollars), and the app and its documents are in English.

Is it released yet?

Kontuly is in beta (version 0.2). Licences aren't on sale yet, and the download is sent to each beta tester by email. See Is Kontuly in beta? or join the beta.
