How do I track profit by job, project or location in Kontuly?
In Kontuly, add a tracking category (such as Job or Region) and its options in Settings under Tracking categories, then choose an option on each line you record. The Profit and Loss by Tracking report shows income, expenses and net profit for each option.
- Open Settings and find Tracking categories.
- Type a name in the new category box and click Add category. You can have two categories at a time.
- Type each option in the new option box and press Enter, or click Add option.
- Choose an option on each line. A Tracking column appears on invoices, bills, credit notes, quotes, recurring templates and manual journals, and beside the account on each bank line and split line.
Fixed assets and stock adjustments have a Tracking choice too, so depreciation and disposal gains or losses land under the right option.
Run the report
Open Profit and Loss by Tracking from All reports under Financial statements and choose the Tracking category. There's a column for each option, plus Unassigned (lines with no option) and Total. A check confirms the total agrees with the Profit and Loss.
Costs posted without an option, such as bank fees, depreciation of an asset with no tracking, or cost of goods sold from stock, show under Unassigned.
Archive an option or category
Click an option's archive icon: it leaves new lines but stays on the lines that have it. An option nothing uses yet is deleted instead. Archive on a category does the same for the whole category and frees its place for a new one; its figures still appear in the report.
What doesn't carry tracking?
Contracts and bank rules. Choose the option on the invoices and bank lines themselves.
