Why can't I change the country in Kontuly's Settings?

Applies to Kontuly 0.2 beta Updated

The Kontuly beta is for Australian businesses only, so the Country box in Settings under Financial year & region is fixed to Australia. The country decides the tax rates and the tax report: Kontuly sets you up with Australian GST codes and prepares BAS figures.

What else is fixed?

  • Currency: it can't be changed once any transaction has been recorded, because every amount in the books is in that currency. If you set a business up with the wrong currency, create a new business.
  • Tax rate percentages: locked once used. See Why can't I change a tax rate's percentage?

Can I deal with overseas customers or suppliers?

Yes. You can invoice, buy and hold bank accounts in other currencies; your books stay in Australian dollars. See How do I invoice or pay in a foreign currency?

What about a business outside Australia?

The beta doesn't cover other countries' tax. See Join the Kontuly beta for who the beta is for.
