How do I rename a business in Kontuly?
A Kontuly business has two names: the name in the business list (what the switcher at the top of the sidebar shows) and the Legal / trading name printed on invoices, statements and reports. Change the list name with Rename this business…; change the legal name in Settings → Business details.
Rename the business in the switcher
- Open the business, then click its name at the top of the sidebar.
- Click Rename this business…
- Type the new name and click Save. The dialog also shows the current legal name, in case that's the one you meant to change.
Change the name on invoices
- Open Settings from the sidebar.
- Edit Legal / trading name under Business details.
- Click Save changes.
I changed the name in Settings but the switcher still shows the old one
That's by design: the two names are kept separate, so changing one never changes the other. Use Rename this business… to change the switcher.
Keeping them separate lets you, for example, list two businesses as "Acme (old books)" and "Acme" while both print "Acme Pty Ltd" on invoices. It's handy after you restore a backup, which adds a second business with "(restored …)" and the date in its name.
