How do I undo a bank reconciliation in Kontuly?

Applies to Kontuly 0.2 beta Updated

In Kontuly's Reconcile screen, click Undo on the top row of Reconciliation history, then Confirm undo. The entries go back into the list unticked and can be changed again. Only the most recent reconciliation can be undone.

  1. Open Reconcile for the account from Banking.
  2. Find Reconciliation history below the list. It shows each finished reconciliation, newest first, with the statement date, the number of entries and the statement balance.
  3. Click Undo on the top row.
  4. Click Confirm undo. You'll see Reconciliation undone.

When do I need to undo one?

  • To change a reconciled entry. Reconciled entries are locked, so you can't unassign a bank line, void a journal or remove a payment in them. Trying gives a message such as "This transaction is reconciled (statement …) — undo that bank reconciliation first".
  • When the opening figure is wrong. If the next reconciliation's Opening doesn't match the statement, the last one was finished against the wrong balance. Undo it and redo it.
  • To reconcile an earlier date. Reconciliations go forward in date order. A statement date earlier than the last one gives "The statement date must be on or after the last reconciliation".

Going back further

Undo reconciliations one at a time, newest first, until you reach the one you need. Fix what's needed, then redo each later reconciliation in order.

Do I always need to undo to add something?

No. You can still add a new transaction dated on or before a reconciled date, such as a bank fee you missed. It appears in the list next time you reconcile.

This is separate from the lock date in Settings, which blocks every change on or before a date. See How do I lock a period?
