Why didn't my bank rule code a transaction in Kontuly?

Applies to Kontuly 0.2 beta Updated

A Kontuly bank rule only codes a transaction it can post, so lines dated on or before your lock date, or lines whose rule account has since been archived, are left unassigned for you. Also check that the rule applies to the bank account you imported into and isn't paused.

Checks in order

  1. Bank account. In Rules, the rule must show the account you imported into, or All bank accounts.
  2. Paused. A rule marked paused doesn't run on import. Edit it and tick Apply automatically on import.
  3. Pattern. Contains looks for your text anywhere in the description, ignoring capitals. Compare it with the exact description on the bank line.
  4. How the line arrived. Rules run on CSV and PDF imports only, not on lines added by hand or in Quick Input.
  5. Lock date. Lines dated on or before the lock date in Settings are imported but never coded automatically.
  6. Archived account. If the rule's account was archived, the line is left unassigned. Point the rule at another account.
  7. Another rule won. When several rules match, the most recently added one wins.

After fixing a rule, click Apply rules on the Banking screen to run your rules over the lines still waiting.

"A rule can't assign to Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable"

Customer and supplier payments are matched to their invoices and bills, so a rule can't code lines to those accounts. Leave those lines to match, or choose a different account for the rule.
