Why can't I delete a bank transaction in Kontuly?

Applies to Kontuly 0.2 beta Updated

Kontuly only deletes bank lines that are unassigned or ignored, so deleting never changes your books. If you see "Unassign the transaction before deleting it", click Unassign (reverse) on the line first, then delete it.

  1. Find the line in Banking (use Show reviewed if it's been cleared).
  2. Click Unassign (reverse). Its entry is reversed and the line becomes unassigned.
  3. Click the bin icon (Delete) and confirm.

Deleting removes the bank line only and is recorded in the audit log with its date, description and amount.

Should I delete it at all?

  • A real transaction? Code it, or mark it Ignore (non-business) if it isn't business money. Don't delete it: your bank balance in the books would then differ from the bank's.
  • A duplicate, or a line added by mistake? Delete it.
  • Re-importing the same statement brings a deleted line back. Ignore it instead if you'll import overlapping files.

It still won't unassign

The line may be part of a finished bank reconciliation, or dated on or before your lock date. See How do I fix a bank transaction coded to the wrong account?
